How much does a Shopify migration cost?
If you ask us what a Shopify migration costs with no other context, the honest answer is that we do not know yet. Not to be evasive. The price depends on very specific things about your store, and quoting a figure before looking at them would mean inventing it.
What we can do is tell you what genuinely moves the budget, so that when you talk to us, or to anyone else, you know which questions matter.
What inflates or shrinks the budget
The integrations you have to keep. A standard payment gateway is an app and an afternoon. A connected ERP, a PIM, a marketplace integration or a bespoke logistics system is a different matter. There the cost depends on whether an app already solves it or whether something has to be built.
How much custom design you want. Adapting an official Shopify theme to your brand costs less than building a theme from scratch around your specific buying experience. Both are valid choices, but the design and implementation effort differs substantially.
The history you want to keep. Old orders, customers with specific segments, product reviews. Everything you choose to bring with you rather than start fresh adds migration and validation work.
Catalogue complexity. Migrating products with no variants is not the same as migrating references with size, colour and material combinations. The more exceptions your catalogue holds, such as products with different rules, bundles, or digital products mixed with physical, the more planning and review time it needs.
This is the migration cost, not the cost of running Shopify
Everything above is the one-off cost of the migration project. Separate from that is the recurring cost of selling on Shopify: the plan subscription and the transaction fee, which vary depending on whether you are on Basic, Grow or Advanced.
Shopify prices its plans in your local currency and the transaction fee changes depending on whether you use Shopify Payments or a third-party gateway. That second detail catches people out more often than the subscription itself.
Why we do not publish a fixed rate
Because any figure we put here would at best be the average of projects that look nothing like yours. We would rather look at your actual case, meaning the catalogue, the integrations, what you want to keep and what you want to leave behind, and give you a real quote instead of a marketing number.
If you want a sense of timing before discussing price, here is how long a Shopify migration usually takes by project size.
